Tell Us About Your Classic Car Matter
Do you have a legal question or dispute involving a classic car, collector car, historic sports car or racing car in Germany?
You are welcome to contact us by email, telephone or through our contact form.
Our Classic Car Law team advises collectors, buyers, sellers, dealers and restoration businesses on transactions and disputes involving valuable historic vehicles. International clients can communicate with us entirely in English.
An initial enquiry does not create any obligation to instruct us.
How to Contact Us
You can contact our Classic Car Law team directly by email or telephone.
If you already have documents relating to your matter, you may send us the most important documents together with a brief description of the issue.
For example:
- purchase agreement;
- sales advertisement or auction catalogue;
- correspondence with the seller, buyer, dealer or workshop;
- invoices and estimates;
- condition reports;
- expert reports;
- photographs of the vehicle or relevant defects; and
- documents concerning the vehicle’s identity, history or provenance.
You do not need to prepare a complete legal summary before contacting us. A short description of the matter and the relevant documents are usually sufficient for an initial assessment of how we may be able to assist you.

International Clients Welcome
You do not need to be based in Germany to instruct a German lawyer.
We regularly advise international clients in matters involving vehicles, sellers, dealers, restoration workshops and auction houses in Germany.
Communication can be conducted entirely in English by email, telephone or video conference. Where necessary, we can represent international clients in negotiations and proceedings before German courts without requiring them to travel to Germany for every step of the matter.
What Happens After You Contact Us?
After receiving your enquiry, we will first review whether your matter falls within our area of practice and whether we are able to act for you.
If further information or documents are required, we will let you know.
Before undertaking substantive legal work, we can clarify the proposed scope of our engagement and the applicable fees with you.
This allows you to decide whether you wish to instruct us before we proceed with the matter.
When Should You Contact Us?
Early legal advice can be particularly useful if:
- you are considering the purchase or sale of a valuable classic car;
- a recently purchased vehicle has significant defects;
- you have doubts about authenticity, originality or matching numbers;
- there is a problem concerning the chassis number or vehicle identity;
- a restoration is defective, delayed or substantially more expensive than expected;
- you have purchased or sold a vehicle through a classic car auction;
- you are involved in a dispute with a dealer, seller, buyer or restoration workshop; or
- an international classic car transaction has a connection to Germany.
In an existing dispute, it can be important to obtain legal advice before the vehicle is repaired, dismantled, restored or otherwise altered, as this may affect the preservation of evidence.
FAQs
Can I contact you before deciding whether to instruct your law firm?
Yes. You are welcome to send us an initial enquiry describing your matter. Contacting us does not in itself oblige you to instruct us. Once we understand the basic facts, we can discuss whether and how we may be able to assist you.
Does sending an initial enquiry immediately result in legal fees?
Simply sending us an enquiry does not automatically mean that substantive legal work will be undertaken. If we are able to assist, the scope of our engagement and the applicable fees can be clarified before we begin substantive legal work.
What information should I provide with my initial enquiry?
A short description of the matter is usually sufficient to start. It is helpful to tell us what vehicle is involved, who the other party is, what happened and what you would like to achieve. If available, you can also provide the purchase agreement, advertisement, correspondence, invoices, expert reports or other important documents.
Can I send documents and photographs with my enquiry?
Yes. Relevant documents and photographs can help us understand the matter. For an initial enquiry, it is usually best to send the most important documents rather than an extensive unsorted collection. We can request additional material if necessary.
Can I contact you in English?
Yes. International clients can communicate with us entirely in English. Legal advice, correspondence and negotiations can also be conducted in English.
Do I need to come to your office in Munich?
Usually not. Many matters can be handled by email, telephone and video conference. International clients therefore generally do not need to travel to Munich simply to obtain an initial assessment or instruct us.
How quickly should I contact a lawyer about a classic car dispute?
As early as possible, particularly where evidence may change or legal deadlines may apply. If the dispute concerns defects, authenticity, matching numbers, vehicle identity or restoration work, it may be important to preserve the current condition of the vehicle before further work is carried out.
